Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is the New UPDF Chief of Defence Forces

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
This is the second time Kainerugaba rises to the very top ranks of the army, and replaces General Wilson Mbadi Mbasu who has been appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Trade and Cooperatives.
Oboth Oboth has been elevated from state minister, and is now the new minister of defence.
Museveni, who is the Commander in Chief, made several other changes.
Lt Gen Peter Elwelu moved to the post of Senior Presidential Advisor, previously held by Muhoozi, and Lt Gen Samuel Okiding has been moved to Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, to replace Elwelu.
Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda is Defence Attache, with Maj Gen Jackson Bakasumba replacing him as Chief of Staff.
