By our Reporter.

Kampala based Christians on April 10th 2022 gathered at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero to a Holy Communion and farewell service for Bishop Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda.
The service was organized by Diocese of Kigezi Kampala chapter Christians under the leadership of Mrs. Jessica Tushemerirwe who serves as the chairperson of the chapter. This chapter was initiated on August 11th 2019 by the outgoing Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi Rt. Rev. Eng. George Bagamuhunda at a function that was graced by the former prime minister Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, former governor Bank of Uganda Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile (RIP), former chairperson LcV Kabale district Patrick Besigye Keihwa (RIP) and the former minister Manzi Tumubweine(RIP) among others.
Before delivering his sermon, the Bishop asked Christians to observe a moment of silence in honor of all those Christians that have been called by the Lord and he blessed their souls wherever they rest now.
For all reasons, the Bishop reminded Christians that he had not come for farewell and to say “Goodbye” but to thank them for having loved and supported him since he became Bishop in 2014.
Bishop Bagamuhunda previously served as chaplain Kihanga secondary School, St. Mary’s College Rushoroza among other assignments in the ministry.
“While at Kihanga, whenever a child would die, my senior would send me to bury them. This was routine because many children died and I had to find out the cause of death which I discovered was dirty water and poor sanitation. I undertook further studies and got support from Christians and thus working out better water projects in the diocese and the area of Kigezi before becoming Bishop.” The bishop recalled.

This function was attended by ministers David Bahati, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi and Rukiga district Members of parliament Rolland Ndyomugyenyi Bish and Carolyn Kamusiime Muhwezi among so many former ministers and political leaders.

Hon. Min. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the cabinet minister for ICT and National Guidance was the guest of honor. He thanked Bishop Bagamuhunda for maintaining peace in the diocese among so many achievements. Together with the members of parliament present, they delivered a gift to the bishop.
Diocese of Kigezi will have a new Bishop on 29th May 2022 and Venerable Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna will be officially consecrated by the Archbishop to replace Bishop Bagamuhunda.
The function ended with cake cutting and networking.
