DAILYNEWS UG South Sudanese rebels under the leadership of the country’s first vice president Riek Machar said a top general among their ranks have been killed by troops loyal to the South Sudanese president Salva Kiir Mayardiit during clashes in Wunulyet, a village 10 miles south of the country’s capital Juba.
In a statement seen by this reporter, SPLA-IO deputy spokesman Col. Lam Paul Gabriel said the opposition general which he did not identified was killed in Wunulyet south of Juba, the capital.
“On June 2, 2018, the regime’s forces launched an aggressive attack against the SPLA-IO base in Wunulyet killing one of our commanders and injuring two others,” the statement said.
However, the statement did not revealed the identity of the slain general.
