DAILYNEWS UG – The journey to be crowned miss Uganda 2018-2019 was not an easy one. Contestants had to go through a series of competitions to get the finalists.
Nevertheless, with hard work and determination, 22 year-old Quiin Abenakyo beat 22 contestants to take the crown of Miss Uganda 2018/2019.
The Business Computing student who hails from Mayuge district will now represent Uganda in the Miss World beauty pageant that will take place in China this December.
The event was held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
On top of winning a Toyota Wish car (UBD series), Abenakyo, together with the top two runners-up, Ahebwa Patience Martha and Trya Margach will go to the Netherlands, have a treat at Pineapple Bay in Bulago Islands and a one-year gym session at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
The trio have also won themselves scholarships at the Uganda Aviation school that will include, among others, cabin crew training, customer care for airlines, aviation security and of course ticketing.
Sandra Khan and Nanziri Elizabeth were the other two of the top five finalists at the Miss Uganda 2018-2019 beauty contest.
Among the guests was Amos Nzeyi, Elly Karuhanga and many others coupled with great entertainment from Micheal Ouma, Jose Sax, Jacinta Ug and Beenie Gunter.
Besides crowning Miss Uganda there were others categories like Miss Eastern Western, Northern, Central, Photogenic, Talent, Sports, Miss Beauty, People’s choice and Congeniality.
Abenakyo went through the sieve winning other Contestants like Ahebwa Patricia and Elizabeth Nanziri after a final selection of 5 out of 10 contestants.
The Panel of Judges was led by Zari Hassan also known as the boss lady, Brian Ahumuza, Prof Maggie Kigozi and others from Kenya,
“All of you are winners” said Brenda the CEO of Miss done Uganda before the long awaited Moment of Crowning miss Uganda that was done Zari Hassan in company of the General Manager of Sheraton Hotel Mr.Phillipe Bittencourt.
