The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Nadhiope Gabula IV, has lost a brother to an accident.

Yosia Nadiope, an intern at Uganda Christian University, was knocked dead by a truck on Friday as he crossed the road.

He was reportedly on the way to watch a World Cup Quarter final game between Brazil and Belgium in Iganga Town.

During a requiem mass to pray for the soul of the deceased, Busoga Prime Minister, Dr Joseph Muvawala, who represented the Kyabazinga, called for an end to road carnage and warned against speculation about the accident.

“Our brother met his death in an accident. So, let us avoid speculation and come to terms with his demise,” Dr Muvawala said.

The Kyabazinga, who is traditionally barred from attending burials, briefly came out of the Budhumbula Palace shortly after his brother’s burial.

President Yoweri Museveni, who was represented by Karamoja Affairs minister, Mr Moses Kizige, asked road users to be careful.

He commended the Kyabazinga for promoting education and other government programmes in the region.

“The Kyabazinga is an inspiration to young leaders and he is passionate about children, education and development.  He had procured an internship placement for the deceased in Germany,” Mr Museveni said.
